Autumn Color Fair Isle

Designed by Betts Lampers

The absolutely gorgeous Autumn Color Fair Isle cardigan is amazing! Set-in sleeves in the round with a shoulder saddle, corrugated ribbing at the cuffs, hem, front band, and neckline, brilliant colors masterfully combined coupled with an easy-to-knit motif makes this sweater worthy of its cover shot on the out-of-print Sweaters from Camp. Originally designed with a different yarn, Betts has recolored it for Jamieson’s Shetland Spindrift.

The pattern is written for one size–39.5″–although the knitter who is familiar with the Elizabeth’s Percentage System method* of sweater construction could re-size it without too much difficulty.

Eighteen colors of Jamieson’s Shetland Spindrift yarn are used in this design. A yarn pack is available for this design

*Explained in a number of books by Elizabeth Zimmermann and Meg Swansen (I recommend The Opinionated Knitter or the revised Knitting Workshop for the most recent versions of EPS), and also covered in the pattern leaflet EPS—Four Tops (although this does not cover the set-in sleeve in the round shaping).
