Shipping, Returns, & All That Stuff

I want my customers to be satisfied with every transaction.

What you can expect

My primary goals are to keep your order protected from the elements while reducing the amount of plastic that I use. Larger yarn orders and kits are packed in re-usable plastic kit bags (smaller kits are in recycled plastic bags), while other orders are packed in reused bags. Any padding I use is recycled. Sometimes my shipments don’t look pretty—but the yarn inside does!

Shipping & Handling Charges

Sadly, mailing is expensive! I am not attempting to profit from the shipping and handling charges; the charges below reflect the average actual cost of postage, stamp processing fees, shipping supplies, and money handling fees. As your order size increases, I cover more and more of the actual cost of shipping until you reach the free shipping level.

I use the US Postal Service for all shipments. If you prefer another shipping method, I will be happy to ship that way but I will have to charge you any difference in shipping cost.

Pick-up in Berkeley, California

If you would like to pick up your order, please email me with your address, phone number, and order. I will invoice you through PayPal to avoid shipping charges. All local pick up orders will be charged California sales tax.

Canadian and International Orders

Due to the high cost of shipping, customs, and currency conversion I recommend that my Canadian customers contact Debbie Wilson of Sheeps Ahoy in Ottawa for yarn. International orders will be charged actual shipping costs + $3.50. International shipping has become very expensive, sad to say, but I’m happy to do it if you need something I sell. Please email me with your address, phone number, and order—the shopping cart will not accept international orders. I will calculate shipping costs and send you a PayPal invoice.

You will receive a tracking number for your package (except for patterns).

All shipments to addresses in California are subject to state sales tax, currently 9.50%.

I will accept returns of yarn that is in resalable condition up to one year after purchase. By resalable I mean that the ball band is intact, there is no writing on the ball band, and the yarn is not stained or smelly. Postage is your responsibility. Please contact me before returning yarn.

All sales of books and patterns, however, are final.

Damaged Shipments

I will replace any item that arrives in poor condition. Please save all packaging and contact me right away.
